As a member of YAPS, you’ll be able to party it up with the rest of your Portuguese friends, reach out to those in need and keep the Portuguese tradition alive. Our festas will range from Portuguese socials to sports events to youth balls and to community outreach programmes.

Y.A.P.S initially started out with 11 close family friends - this being the starting point in finding a way to share our passion for our Portuguese culture, but best of all to get in touch with those who thrived on it in the same way. 

After meeting up and realizing we all shared the same passion for our culture -we couldn’t stop there, we had to go further.

And so on the 24th of April 2008, there it was - The Young Adult Portuguese Society (Y.A.P.S).

Y.A.P.S is a society which aims to unite, strengthen & represent the young Portuguese adults of Johannesburg.

Our main goals are to unite the Young Adult Portuguese community in Johannesburg by keeping the Portuguese tradition alive, reaching out to those in need and educating members about our Portuguese culture. By adding this Portuguese flavour we will create awareness in order to achieve our goals.
